I did an overnighter on the south side of Mt Adams, hiking up the Shorthorn Trail to the Round the Mountain trail, turning right and finding an obscure campsite about a half mile further.
Hike starts in the burn
Some nice green creeks a couple miles in
Then I found this amazing and old trail sign from when the area was the Columbia National Forest
My relatively new Tarptent Moment Double-wall, in the mesh only arrangement
I went for a dayhike from camp to see if I could get to the glacial lake below the Gotchen Glacier. This is how it started.
Then got rockier
I needed to get over the mid-level gray ridge - a glacial moraine. But it got to unstable so I stopped below the top and returned
An interesting side view of the Adams Glacier
