I cross country skied out of the Pineside Snow Park, north of Trout Lake, on Jan 10, 2011. I skied the Hole-in-the-Ground loop, but extended it's northern part to the Gotchen cabin. This cabin is the oldest structure in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest and was built in 1909 to monitor sheep grazing. The entire loop was about 9.7 miles and gained about 1000 feet.
