Hiking up the Schilthorn was a good dayhike I did out of the Lauterbrunnen Valley. It starts with a ride up a gondola to get part way up. I could hike the entire thing in the long summer days, but not in October. From there, there is a well-marked trail to the top, where there is a restaurant. And you can take the gondola all the way down. This was good because near the top, there was an icy section that caused me much trepidation to get across. It was exposed and very dangerous. There were steps and a railing across part of it, though being pure water ice, it still wasn't easy. The problem was the short section after that. So I was glad to get a beer on top in a warm building and then ride down. Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures of the icy section.
You can see a gondola tower on top of this ridge - for those riding all the way to the top.
Here it is, once I got closer.
Trail signs, at one of the many junctions.
The gondola nears the restaurant - and I near the top.
