The Strawberry Mountain Wilderness is southeast of the town of John Day, in central Oregon. It is relatively thickly forested for this part of Oregon - east of the Cascades - and has a number of lakes. For this four-day / three night trip, I hiked in 1.2 miles with David Koskamp late Thursday evening to Strawberry Lake, and another mile or so more around the lake to find a campsite. On Friday we dayhiked to Slide Lake and a ridge above High Lake. On Saturday, we hiked up Strawberry Mountains, 9035 feet. Then out on Sunday.
David and his dog Kodi negotiate the crossing of Strawberry Lake's northern outlet.
