I did a four day solo backpack up the length of the Lewis River trail and a little further up the Quartz Creek trail that extends from it's end. I had warm weather, a bit of clouds now and then, and despite being the weekend after July 4, no crowds.
Welcome to the Lewis River
And some of the best old growth in southern Washington
Little tree growing from big stump
This is new from last year. You would have to wade the Lewis River and I couldn't see any trail on the other side
Balanced log still there, I get this photo every year
My first campsite about 3/4 of a mile below Lower Falls, about 10 miles of hiking
Near dusk, I strolled up to the Lower Falls of the Lewis River, in perfect light
Continuing on day 2, this is Copper Creek Falls
And Middle Falls, or the part of it not in the bright sun
Canopied trail near Middle Falls
A mile further on, Upper Falls
And looking down river from Upper Falls
