The Lauterbrunnen Valley is in the Jungfrau region of Switzerland, one of its most popular areas to visit. It's a deep valley surrounded by granite cliffs and high, glacier-clad mountains. I was there in October, the low season between the summer hiking and winter ski seasons. Some businesses were closed and the hostel I stayed in was almost empty.
The valley is famous for its waterfalls, and of course it's hiking. There are lodges all along the trails that hikers sleep in during the warmer months, but all were closed now. Camping with tents is not allowed in this area.
