Somers Point is the end of a long peninsula/ridge that sticks 3 miles out into Hells Canyon. The end of it is a "T", with the true Somers Point on the left, or northern, end of the T, which is also the lower end. A road officially called the Western Rim, but more often called Lord Flat Road, passes by the ridge that leads to Somers Point, and then a rough trail leads 3 miles out to the point. I had a dry camp there, carrying a gallon of water over the 13 mile hike. At 6500 feet, it wasn't too hot and the route is mostly flat.
