This is one of the more popular canyons to visit in the Copper Canyon area as a decent dirt road descends into it and there is a nice town at the bottom. Rather than take the public bus, which doesn't stop for sightseeing, I bought a seat on a jeep going down with a group. We stopped at a number of places to check out vistas, waterfalls, and the river at the bottom. The town of Batolpilas is quaint, and there is a hike down a dirt road to an old church which is quite large for the small population in the area. Nobody seems to know exactly when it was built or by whom. I took the bus to go back up.
